This Privacy Policy explains how Cupid LLC, a Missouri limited liability company ("Cupid LLC," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Cupid, our SMS-first AI matchmaking service (the "Service"). Cupid is reachable by text at +1 (314) 377-7361 and on the web at textcupid.co.
We built Cupid so that privacy is structural, not an afterthought. The sections below describe what we collect, how we protect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Because Cupid is a matchmaking service, the things you choose to share may include sensitive information, such as your relationship intentions, sexual orientation, or religion. We use this information only to match you and operate the Service, as described below, and we protect it using the measures in "How we protect your data."
Please share only what you are comfortable sharing. Cupid does not need sensitive identifiers, and you should not send payment card numbers, government IDs, or similar information over text.
Privacy is built into how Cupid works:
We use a small set of trusted providers to run the Service. They process data only to provide their services to us. They are:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with the service providers above, with other users as part of the matchmaking flow you agreed to, or when required by law.
We keep your information only for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service, support your matches, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. After that, we delete or de-identify it.
You can request deletion of your data at any time by texting STOP and asking us to delete your data, or by emailing support@textcupid.co. We will delete your personal information except where we are required to retain it by law. Note that because phone numbers are stored hashed and never in plaintext, we identify your records through the hash of the number you contact us from.
Specific retention periods. We keep different types of data for different lengths of time:
When a retention period ends, we delete or irreversibly de-identify the data. Some data may persist briefly in encrypted backups before those backups cycle out.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We aim to honor these rights for all users, in the spirit of laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), regardless of where you are located. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Depending on your location, these rights include the right to know what personal information we hold, to access or receive a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We aim to respond to verified requests within 45 days.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@textcupid.co. We may need to verify your request, for example by confirming control of the phone number associated with your profile.
Cupid is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
We use the technical and organizational measures described above to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we design the Service to minimize what is stored and to protect what is.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
